Are you passionate about supporting children's emotional and social development?
We are seeking a dedicated ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) to join one of our client schools in Cheltenham and provide vital emotional and pastoral support to students. As an ELSA Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children’s emotional wellbeing, helping them build resilience, improve their social skills, and thrive in a school environment.
Key Emotional Literacy Support Assistant Literacy Support Assistant
• Deliver individual and small group sessions to support students in developing emotional literacy, self-regulation, and social skills.
• Provide a safe, nurturing space for students to talk about their feelings and work through any emotional difficulties they may be facing.
• Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop tailored support plans for students in need of emotional or behavioral support.
• Monitor and track students’ progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
• Implement specific ELSA strategies and interventions to promote mental health and well-being.
• Support the wider school community in fostering an emotionally supportive and inclusive environment.
• Assist in the development and delivery of emotional wellbeing workshops and resources.
What We’re Looking For:
• Experience working with children, particularly those who need additional emotional or behavioural support.
• A strong understanding of emotional literacy, mental health, and social development in children.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to listen and support students through challenges.
• Experience or training in ELSA or similar emotional support programs is highly desirable but not essential.
• A proactive and positive approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A commitment to promoting the emotional wellbeing of all students in the school.
