Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate Senior Family Therapist to support a nationally recognised Oxfordshire Child & Adolescent Eating Disorder Service. The role focuses on autonomous, creative practice within a collaborative team that values multidisciplinary formulation, reflective supervision and systemic thinking.
Responsibilities
* Provide family‑based assessment and treatment within the Eating Disorder Service, including contributing to pre‑ and post‑assessment MDT discussions.
* Participate as a member of a Systemic Family Therapy clinic, engaging in reflective team meetings.
* Offer systemic advice and consultation to CAEDS clinicians, other CAMHS clinicians and multi‑agency partners on systemic issues.
* Provide teaching and training opportunities within the CAMHS network.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualification in family/systemic psychotherapy.
* Registration as a Systemic Psychotherapist with UKCP or equivalent body.
* Additional professional postgraduate qualifications in a mental health or social welfare discipline or equivalent AFT qualification are desirable.
Experience
* Substantial practice in the relevant first profession.
* Experience maintaining professionalism in highly emotive and distressing situations, including verbal or physical abuse.
* Some experience as a family and systemic psychotherapist within CAMHS and experience supervising staff in systemic approaches are desirable.
* Experience teaching and training in systemic/family therapy to professional and non‑professional groups is desirable.
Person Specification – Knowledge
* Skills in methods of Systemic Psychotherapy/Family based assessment, intervention and management requiring sustained concentration.
* High level of relationship and communication skills for work with clients, families and professionals in emotive contexts.
* Knowledge of a variety of systemic approaches (social constructionist, narrative, solution focused, etc.) and familiarity with other modalities (psychoanalytic, medical, behavioural, etc.).
* Knowledge of ethical practice mindful of power and diversity, sensitive to clients’ cultural backgrounds.
* Knowledge of the theory and practice of Family Therapy for Eating Disorders (desirable).
* Skills in providing systemic/family therapy teaching, training and supervision to other professionals (desirable).

Salary: £49,387 – £56,515 per annum
