Maintenance Engineer Chester 4 on 4 off (Days / Nights) £40.00ph Umbrella Gap Technical are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to maintain, test, and continuously improve the mechanical systems and equipment at one of our key clients. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced industrial environment. Key Responsibilities Maintain and optimise a wide range of mechanical systems to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. Carry out diagnostics, fault-finding, and root cause analysis on mechanical and control system issues. Plan and deliver preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Support upgrades and modifications to existing machinery and plant systems. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and drive process improvements. Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Accurately document maintenance activities and communicate technical information clearly. Required Knowledge & Experience Boiler / steam systems FMCG / packaging manufacturing experience Industrial building services Hydraulic and pneumatic systems Conveyor systems - maintenance and troubleshooting in production environments Qualifications & Skills Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer 3-5 years' experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or process plant environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve technical issues quickly Able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting Self-motivated with a drive for continuous learning and development Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams Strong commitment to safety and compliance How to Apply To apply, please send your CV via the Apply Now button.
