The project:
Our rail team is growing and we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. As Senior Planning Manager you will represent Mace whilst interfacing with one of our key clients. Ad-hoc visits to sites in the North of England will be required on a hybrid basis.
Responsible for directing the planning function across allocated projects and tenders, ensuring schedules are effectively developed, monitored and delivered. Supports project management to achieve timely and profitable outcomes, overseeing planning for medium to high complexity projects, portfolios or major project sections.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Managing safe, high‑quality and compliant project delivery, promoting wellbeing, inclusion and strong HSE standards.
2. Driving performance across key assignments, ensuring effective planning, scheduling and monitoring aligned with business objectives.
3. Supporting strategic development, governance and responsible decision‑making across functions and business units.
4. Fostering collaboration, knowledge‑sharing and strong stakeholder relationships to enable people and projects to excel.
5. Managing effective planning, scheduling and project controls, applying recognised methodologies and tools.
6. Providing clear analysis, advice and corrective actions to stakeholders and clients.
7. Managing and developing a high‑performing planning team, influencing client decisions and outcomes.
8. Delivering project requirements while supporting net‑zero ambitions and proactive carbon management.
You’ll need to have:
9. Shall be qualified with a BSc/MSc or equivalent. Shall be chartered member of a relevant professional body or is a member of a professional body and has enrolled onto, and is actively engaged, in its chartership programme, or has a lesser qualification than chartership but has a minimum of 15 years relevant experience.
10. Shall have a sound understanding of Network Rail's requirements regarding P&C management.
11. Strong leadership qualities demonstrable through their daily actions and engagement with individuals at all levels of an organisation.
