Children Looked After is a great place to be a support worker. This is demonstrated in our Outstanding Ofsted grading. The Sheffield CLA service has a consistent staff team however, due to promotion we are looking for a support worker who is dynamic and committed to achieving the best outcomes for care experienced children and young people. We work with a variety of young people with different plans for their future, this includes adoption, foster care, residential homes, living with parents, Reg 24 carers etc.
You will need to have significant experience of working with vulnerable children and young people in a social work setting as support workers are instrumental in supporting children looked after with family time, life story work,supporting children and young people to access appropriate activities, passport applications, direct work to support overall wellbeing, transporting children and/or their belongings, organising and dropping off resources,
making referrals, supporting life appreciation days, supporting duty.
Support workers in CLA have the ability to work with young people long term to build meaningful and trusting relationships, remaining with young people through highs and lows. Overall, CLA offers diverse learning experiences for support workers. It encompasses a multitude of different assessment and direct work skills which enables support workers to build on their professional development in a supportive work environment. The young people we work with are often varied in terms of history, care plans and identity, which offers support workers a broad range of day-to-day experiences, which are both challenging and exciting.
