Position: Settlement & Integration Worker - Spanish Location: Surrey (office location) with outreach in Surrey and Langley Hours: 21-hours/week, some evening and weekend work is required Salary: $26.78/hour Start Date: Start ASAP, end date is March 31, 2026 (possible extension based on funding) We are looking for a part-time, temporary Settlement & Integration Worker to join our Sources Community and Volunteer Services team. This individual must be energetic, creative, and passionate about supporting newcomers in our community. This role requires a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License as well as a clean driving record. Description of Position: Reporting to: Manager of Volunteer Resources Sources will provide Spoke services in White Rock as a subcontractor to Hub organizations under the BC Newcomers Services Program. The Settlement and Integration Worker will support eligible clients in their social and economic integration. This position will be unique, meeting the needs of cultural groups identified in the contract. General Responsibilities: Ensures health and safety of all clients in course of working with them. Adheres to relevant Council on Accreditation standards. Adheres to Sources policies and procedures and the Code of Ethics. Participates in Sources’ internal committees, as assigned. Ensures rights and dignity of clients is maintained. Maintains privacy and confidentiality of clients and client files. Completes and keeps up to date, all required trainings offered by Sources, including but not limited to, health and safety, cultural safety, diversity and inclusion, and any program specific trainings. Engage in ongoing learning and professional development related to Indigenous histories, cultures and perspectives and applying this knowledge to your work. Creating and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment within the organization, and addressing any instances of discrimination, harassment, or other forms of harmful behaviour that don’t support the principals of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness. Maintain First Aid and CPR training equivalent to WCB Level One if/when required. Maintain a valid a valid BC driver’s license (Class 5). Program Specific Responsibilities: Recruiting clients by liaising with community services, agencies, employers, and training institutions to increase client referrals. Conducting strength-based need assessments to find each person’s skills, interests, employment history and career goals as well as their and their families’ settlement needs. Working with clients to develop and implement settlement plans. Assisting clients in accessing appropriate programs and services for which they are eligible and ensure successful linking to these services. Detecting issues such as depression, family violence, substance abuse, employer abuse, and intergenerational conflicts through the early identification of warning signs that may be present and refer clients to the appropriate support services. Supporting clients during the job search, selection and hiring processes. Coordinating with community and employment service providers (e.g. Work BC) and referring clients to more appropriate services as needed. Identifying potential and actual risks and barriers encountered by the client and/or their family to access programs and working with the client to find solutions and support. Planning, developing, and facilitating group orientation workshop sessions. Developing and maintaining a network of appropriate contacts with external service providers to support and follow up on client referrals based on needs and eligibility of client group. Maintaining client files, preparing reports, and compiling statistics. Conducting program promotion to community services, media sources and internal marketing. Qualifications: Diploma and/or equivalent proven experience in a related field. Fluency in English and language relevant to the population served. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated knowledge of the needs and issues of work permit and study permit holders, naturalized citizens and others depending on individual circumstances. Demonstrated ability to promote and implement education and support group services. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant community resources, programs, and services. Knowledge of adult learning models, career decision making process, assessment of pre-employment barriers including English as a Second Language. Knowledge and understanding of legislation and policies relevant to employment in Canada (Employment Standards Act, Work Safe BC, etc.). Knowledge of post-secondary education system in Canada and the existing employment services available to temporary foreign workers, provincial nominees, international students, and refugee claimants. Demonstrated ability of using online communication platforms, such as Zoom and Teams Strong networking skills as well as verbal & written communication skills including the ability to present information to multi-cultural groups and employers and one on one counselling to individuals. Demonstrated ability to provide support to the target service users in the event of workplace safety or employment standards violation, and other relevant legal assistance. Knowledge in the areas of federal and provincial immigration programs and processes including work permit applications. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team and inter-departmental teams. Effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and other data systems. Ability to take initiative, identify urgent work items and set priorities. Able to work independently. Possess an understanding of the issues related to poverty and the ability to handle sensitive client issues with tact and non judgement. Ability to maintain open and direct communications with clients and volunteers. Ability to work through potentially difficult and stressful situations with proven crisis resolution skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively with culturally diverse community residents and community service partners. Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training (Training provided through Sources) if required. Standard First Aid and CPR (Training may be accessed through Sources) if required. Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and driver's abstract. Clear Criminal Record Check.
