Job Description
As a Freelance Music & STEAM Workshop Facilitator, you’ll deliver fun, tech-powered workshops that blend music, coding, and creativity. You’ll work in Special Schools, Pupil Referral Units, Alternative Provisions, and mainstream classrooms—helping students build confidence, curiosity, and new skills.
This is a freelance, touring role, part-time and term-time only. You’ll travel across England for up to 2 touring weeks per month (Sun–Fri), and also deliver “home” sessions within a 90-minute commute.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver interactive workshops using tools like Makey Makey, Micro:Bit, BandLab, and music WebApps
* Teach in diverse settings, including SEND schools and PRUs
* Travel nationally and work collaboratively with your tour team
* Set up and care for tech kits, troubleshoot basic tech issues
* Collaborate with classroom staff to tailor learning
* Collect photo documentation and feedback from students, staff, and yourself
* Complete onboarding/shadowing (expenses covered), then lead sessions independently
* Optional: help co-design new content or contribute to our online platform, STEAM Corner
Person SpecificationEssential Skills & Experience
* Experience working with children or young people (e.g. teaching, youth work, clubs, camps)
* Background in music, arts, or creative tech—or a strong interest in learning
* Basic comfort with digital tools (e.g. DAWs, Scratch, Chrome Music Lab)
* Willing to travel up to 2 weeks/month, including Sunday travel and shared accommodation
* Adaptable, empathetic, and calm under pressure
* Strong communication skills, and confident leading a group
* Enhanced DBS, Right to Work in the UK, and 2 references required
Desirable Extras
* Full UK driving licence (especially for company car use)
* Music-tech fluency (Makey Makey, BandLab, Micro:Bit, etc.)
* Experience leading full class groups (20–30 students)
* Intermediate musical skill (instrument or production)
* Ability to simplify complex topics for KS1/KS2
* Willingness to learn new workshops and attend occasional CPD
Payment & Terms
* Daily Rate: £145–£175 (based on experience and project strand)
* Teaching Day = 4 hours (plus setup, lunch, and pack-down)
* Freelance, part-time, and term-time only
* Paid monthly in arrears upon completion of all feedback and admin
* All travel, accommodation, and per diems fully covered during touring weeks
Location & Touring
* This is a touring post—you’ll travel across England during term time
* Sessions take place in mainstream, special schools, PRUs, and alternative settings
* Driving is highly desirable—company car use available for some projects
* Home sessions are within 90 minutes of your base
