Due to an increase in project wins, we are looking for a Contracts Specialist to join our team in Aberdeen on a full-time, staff basis.
As a Contracts Specialist, you'll be responsible for providing contractual and project management support during the project execution phase, with key interfaces with legal and project management teams.
What will you be doing?
1. Ensure implementation of the Project Contracts Strategy at main contract and subcontract levels where required.
2. Ensure company compliance with contractual procedures and deadlines as specified in the main contract and subcontracts.
3. Monitor all project correspondence related to subcontracts for commercial and contractual matters, ensuring adequate administrative follow-up.
4. Prepare draft project correspondence towards the client and ensure proper follow-up.
5. Identify and flag potential risks and opportunities from a contracts and legal perspective.
6. Monitor contract compliance with contractual procedures outlined in the terms and conditions.
7. Flag and draft responses to non-compliances.
8. Review subcontractor requests and provide recommendations to the team.
9. Organize project contractual correspondence effectively.
10. Review and prepare variations and claims, involving all relevant internal disciplines proactively.
11. Review main contract and subcontractor variation requests.
12. Align subcontract and main contract variations.
13. Maintain registers for contract-related variations and claims.
14. Ensure insurance requirements within the main contract and subcontracts are in place.
15. Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual and legal matters related to assigned contract packages.
16. Provide deliverables such as operating within the contracts correspondence register, risk & opportunity register, compliance register, and variations and claims register.
What experience would we like you to have?
* Business law education with a strong technical affinity or an engineering background with well-developed legal and contractual awareness.
* Proven experience in a similar position within the offshore and engineering industry.
* Knowledge of UK law.
* Good command of oral and written English.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills.
* Ability to show initiative with minimal supervision.
* Team player.
