Job Overview
The Post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that will provide health care services to patients within the Cardiac Cath Labs and Recovery, focusing on the direct needs of service users undergoing healthcare treatments. The post will work within clinical competencies with base knowledge, following defined protocols and adhering to the Code of Conduct for Health Care Support Workers in Wales under the direction and close supervision of a registered nurse. The role demonstrates continuous professional development, statutory and mandatory training relevant to the role, and assists with maintaining a culture of physical health and well-being that fosters optimum health and recovery. A commitment to lifelong learning is required. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of patient care as part of the team under the supervision and delegation of registered nurses, planning workload around ward needs.
* Perform venepuncture following ANTT guidelines.
* Perform 12‑lead ECG and report results to the registered nurse.
* Update patient notes and ensure filing and safe storage of patient documentation.
* Communicate factual information with patients using reassurance, tact and empathy; overcome barriers to understanding as needed.
* Assess patients’ conditions through basic observations, monitor blood glucose, collect specimens and initiate emergency procedures.
* Undertake a checklist for theatre patients and patients undergoing cardiac procedures, preparing them for theatre including completion of the integrated care pathway and safety briefing form.
* Report any changes in a patient’s condition to the Nurse in Charge and respond to clinical emergencies.
* Maintain and protect confidentiality at all times.
* Establish and maintain good working relationships with patients, relatives, colleagues and multidisciplinary team members.
* Undertake any other duties consistent with the overall band of the post.
* Contribute to the promotion of health and prevention of illness, as directed by the registered nurse.
