Team Secretary Neurology The opening date is 24 May 2026
The post holder will work as a member of a team and be responsible for ensuring that the neuroscience Service is provided with a high quality secretarial and administrative service. Will undertake the full range of administrative and secretarial duties that are required supporting the Medical Secretaries. Cross site travel may be required to Carlisle.
Main duties of the job
Initiates, manages and prioritises their own workload under the supervision of the Team Leader and Admin Lead.
Provides secretarial and administrative support to all members of the Neurology Team.
Provides copy and audio typing of letters, memos, reports, summaries, charts, along with any other correspondence for the Neurology Team.
Uses Outlook software to access staff calendars and gain relevant information as and when required for team members.
Inputs data and uses the EMIS Electronic System keeping the data up to date and relevant.
Accesses ICE system when needed to provide information to the consultants and secretaries.
Person Specification Qualifications
GCSE English Language (minimum C Grade) or equivalent
RSA 2 word processing or equivalent
RSA 3 word processing or equivalent
NVQ 3 in Administration or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience
Previous admin/secretarial experience
Use of web based facilities and in house computer systems
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Internet experience
Knowledge of data protection act and patient confidentiality
Knowledge of wide range of administrative procedures
Knowledge of Information Governance
NHS experience secretarial or other
Knowledge of Medical terminology
Knowledge of EMIS system
Knowledge of WINSCRIBE
Medical audio typing / word processing

Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows.
Standard Check: £21.50 + Administration cost of £6.50 = £28.00 Deducted from salary over a 4 month period or a one-off payment.
Enhanced Check: £49.50 + administration cost of £6.50 = £56.00 Deducted from salary over a 4 month period or a one-off payment.
