An exciting opportunity for a compassionate and proactive Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to support survivors of domestic abuse across the Black Country. You will provide safeguarding, advocacy, risk assessment and trauma-informed support within a multi-agency environment.
Salary: £25,282 to £28,861 per annum (dependent upon qualifications and experience) + Benefits.
Location: Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley areas.
Job type: Full-Time, Permanent.
Working hours: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm (37.5 hours per week).

JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join a dedicated community support service providing specialist domestic abuse advocacy across the Black Country.
As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) you will support high-risk victims and survivors of domestic abuse through risk assessments, safety planning, safeguarding and multi-agency working. You will work closely with partner agencies including MARAC and other specialist support services.
The successful Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) will deliver trauma-informed one-to-one and group support, empowering service users to make informed choices and rebuild safer independent lives. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous domestic abuse support experience, strong communication skills and a passion for safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
DUTIES
* Providing Frontline Support: Delivering high-quality support to victims and survivors assessed as high risk of domestic abuse.
* Completing Risk Assessments: Identifying levels of risk and developing tailored safety and support plans for service users and their children.
* Advocating for Clients: Representing victims within multi‑agency meetings including MARAC and liaising with external agencies.
* Delivering Trauma‑Informed Support: Providing empowering one‑to‑one and group support sessions to promote recovery and independence.
* Maintaining Accurate Records: Updating case management systems, safeguarding records and confidential documentation.
* Promoting Safeguarding: Following safeguarding procedures to protect vulnerable adults, children and young people.
* Building Professional Relationships: Working collaboratively with internal teams, statutory services and community organisations.
* Supporting Client Empowerment: Assisting service users to recognise abusive behaviours and make informed decisions about their future.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
* Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. The post holder must be female.
* Previous experience supporting victims or survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence or safeguarding-related services.
* A strong understanding of domestic abuse, coercive control and trauma-informed approaches.
* Understanding safeguarding principles relating to adults, children and young people.
* Experience managing and prioritising a varied caseload effectively.
* Ability to build trust and communicate sensitively with vulnerable individuals and partner agencies.
* Experience working collaboratively with external organisations and professional stakeholders.
* Confident using case management systems, databases and Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to work across Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley as required.
* Eligible to work in the UK.
DESIRABLE
* Hold a recognised IDVA qualification or willingness to undertake training.
* Experience facilitating support groups or recovery-focused sessions.
* Knowledge of Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference processes and procedures (MARAC).
* Full driving licence with access to a vehicle.
