About the role
We are seeking an Assistant People Partner - Operations to provide practical, operational HR advice and support across a range of people matters. Working within the People Team, you will be a first point of contact for managers and staff, supporting the effective delivery of employee lifecycle processes and helping ensure consistent, business focused people solutions across both councils.
You will advise managers on issues including discipline, grievance, change management, policy interpretation, job evaluation and employment law, while also supporting staff on health, wellbeing and employment matters. The role involves leading HR casework as directed, coaching managers in the use of council policies and procedures, contributing to HR projects and service improvements, and working collaboratively with HR colleagues to deliver a 'one team' approach. All work must be carried out in line with legal, regulatory, health and safety and equalities requirements.
About you
You will have a relevant HR qualification or equivalent experience, with proven experience working in an HR environment and advising managers. You will have a sound understanding of employment law and HR practice, strong communication, analytical and IT skills, and the ability to build credibility quickly with a range of stakeholders.
You will be confident coaching managers, providing constructive feedback, managing competing priorities and working in a commercially focused, results driven way, with a strong commitment to equality, diversity and continuous professional development. We are looking for somebody who is curious and who likes to explore possible solutions.
