Role Summary
The main objective of this role is to support the store management team in achieving a store environment that fosters creativity, employee development and the VIBE philosophy, while upholding the Urban Outfitters “Peers Training Peers” philosophy.
What You'll Be Doing
* Recruit, motivate, develop and lead a team
* Manage performance development within the department (performance appraisals, individual development plans, coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions)
* Recognize and develop talented individuals for advancement and growth within the organization
* Uphold company standards and act as a positive role model
* Model the way by inspiring, motivating, and encouraging teamwork
* Conduct productive daily meetings to ensure goals are met
* Effectively delegate projects while allowing autonomy and creative decision‑making
* Possess excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form
* Oversee all levels of customer service by setting daily goals and expectations for a positive store environment
* Exhibit excellent floor presence by training and coaching the store team on customer service, standards, product placement, and time management
* Achieve company‑average mystery shop results by upholding the company’s customer service standard
* Perform all store‑level operational procedures accurately and timely, in accordance with company policies and procedures
* Achieve store stock loss goals by ensuring adherence to loss prevention practices
* Assist in upholding health and safety regulations at all times
* Manage department merchandising in collaboration with the Department Manager or Visual Merchandising Manager (training, shipment placement, markdowns, transfers, merchandising, store standards)
* Understand and interpret current fashion trends in local markets to generate creative solutions
* Take an active role in ensuring floor sets for the department are well organized and scheduled appropriately
* Maximize departmental sales through analytical and creative management of merchandise from receipt to sales
* Utilize company reports to react to trends and drive business
* Stay abreast of current trends and maintain knowledge of customer profile with external influences such as media and local community
* Manage stock levels appropriately, considering store environment and market trends
* Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to exceed store targets
What You'll Need
* Experience in a management role working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume fashion retail environment
* Demonstrate strong operational skills
* Understanding of the Urban Outfitters culture and its appeal to the local market
* Ability to drive sales through excellent service, strong visual presentation, and a full understanding of the business
