Overview
NHS Grampian is seeking a Locum Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon to join the department for an 11‑month fixed‑term appointment. This post offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a busy and diverse orthopaedic service in the UK.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the 1:6 Paediatric Trauma on-call rota.
* Bring a subspecialist interest in elective adult orthopaedics that complements the existing consultant team (examples welcomed: Lower Limb Arthroplasty, Soft Tissue Knee Surgery, or Foot & Ankle Surgery).
* Work across Woodend Hospital (adult elective orthopaedics) and the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (Paediatric Trauma).
* Join a vibrant department of 29 Orthopaedic Consultants committed to delivering high‑quality care, continuous improvement, and innovation.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Full registration with a license to practice with the GMC (license must be in place prior to starting in post).
* Applications welcome from newly or nearly qualified Consultants as well as established Consultants.
Additional Information
Site: Woodend Hospital and the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital; the department provides Trauma and Elective services for the Grampian region and acts as a tertiary referral centre for Highland, Shetland, and Orkney. Aberdeen is home to the Major Trauma Centre for the North of Scotland.
