Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care to patients in various healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will have experience in critical care, long-term care, and working with diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities and memory care needs. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting patients' daily activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Responsibilities
* Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
* Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
* Provide support in medication administration as directed by healthcare professionals.
* Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
* Collaborate with nursing staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
* Assist with mobility and transportation of patients using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
* Support patients with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and other memory-related conditions.
* Engage in effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
* Participate in training programs to enhance skills related to patient service and caregiving.
Skills
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of the following skills:
* Experience with Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or other EMR/EHR systems.
* Critical care experience within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment.
* Medical office experience including familiarity with medical terminology and documentation practices.
* Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques and basic life support (BLS) certification.
* Experience in long-term care settings such as assisted living facilities or nursing homes.
* Background in hospice care, acute care, ICU experience, or emergency medicine is preferred.
* Understanding of geriatrics, pediatrics, home care, outpatient services, and behavioral health practices.
* Proficiency in anatomy knowledge and physiology relevant to patient care needs.
