Coventry City Council is looking for a Data Engineer Apprentice to join our Systems Integration & Data Team within ICT & Digital. This role offers the opportunity to start a career in data while gaining hands‑on experience with council systems and data that support essential public services.
Responsibilities
* Support the ingestion and preparation of data from council systems into corporate data platforms.
* Help build and maintain data pipelines and structured datasets.
* Assist with monitoring scheduled and overnight data processes.
* Log and manage data‑related incidents and requests through the service management system, working to agreed service levels.
* Support data analysts by ensuring datasets are reliable, well‑structured, and fit for reporting and analysis.
* Help maintain documentation so data flows and processes are clearly understood.
* Provide limited operational support for data integrations between core systems (such as payments into the financial system), acting as cover when required.
* Learn and apply data governance, security, and data protection principles.
* Complete an approved apprenticeship programme alongside day‑to‑day role.
Qualifications
* Interest in data, technology, or problem‑solving.
* Comfortable using IT systems and digital tools.
* Can work accurately and follow instructions and processes.
* Communicate clearly and are happy to ask questions when needed.
* Enjoy working as part of a team and supporting others.
* Are keen to develop new skills through an apprenticeship.
