PE Global is currently recruiting for an Assistant Buyer for a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, off-highway diesel and natural gas engines client based in Desford.
This is an initial 12 month contract position based on site 5 days a week.
Pay rate is £22.04ph PAYE or £30.18ph Umbrella.
Duties of the role/Responsibilities
* Solicit supplier quotations, analyse cost breakdowns, update pricing records, and manage supplier communications.
* Ensure adherence to internal procurement procedures and industry best practices.
* Lead and support resource projects, resolve procurement challenges, and address invoice-related discrepancies.
* Coordinate supplier onboarding processes and foster strong, ongoing vendor relationships.
* Work in close partnership with the Site Buyer and contribute to the wider Specialty Products and Site procurement teams.
* Oversee the end-to-end procurement cycle: negotiating supplier contracts, evaluating bids, issuing purchase orders, monitoring deliveries, and managing inventory levels.
* Maintain up-to-date procurement documentation and uphold compliance standards.
Education/Experience
* At least 3 years experience as Assistant Buyer
* Purchasing specific qualifications desirable CIPS
* System experience ideally: Microsoft office, ERP system experience (SAP) & Teamcenter
* Procurement Expertise: Deep understanding of procurement methods, systems, and tools.
* Systems Knowledge: Familiar with a range of procurement platforms and able to adapt to new systems quickly.
* Purchasing Processes: Understanding of procurement regulations, workflows, and documentation standards.
* Logistics Coordination: Awareness of supply chain logistics and inventory management best practices.
