As we continue to enjoy an exciting period of growth in the UK, we are looking for additional resources to support us with our upcoming projects. The Operations Quality Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that all project deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and performance. The role works within a collaborative Quality team and closely with engineering, operations, service management, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Quality Management System (QMS), organisational policies, applicable standards, and industry best practices.
Key duties include:
* Understand the existing Quality Management System (QMS) and support the adaptation, implementation, and maintenance of an updated QMS in accordance with ISO 9001 and contractual requirements.
* Develop and maintain quality procedures, plans, and documentation.
* Plan and conduct internal audits, monitoring compliance with defined procedures, regulations, and standards.
* Review project documentation and reports to ensure quality prior to approval.
* Define and maintain the Contract Quality Control Plan based on service milestones and project planning.
* Supervise verification activities and final deliverables prior to customer acceptance.
* Register, track, and manage non-conformities until closure, including corrective and improvement actions.
* Measure quality performance and achievement against defined quality objectives.
* Audit performance indicators, perform trend analysis, and define corrective actions where required.
* Supplier and Subcontractor Quality: Establish and maintain a Supplier Quality Plan, including inspections and supplier audits.
* Review supplier performance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
* Lead lessons learned analysis and ensure outcomes are documented, communicated, and applied.
* Measure and analyse the cost of poor quality and associated corrective actions.
* Lead root cause analysis and ensure effective, sustainable solutions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quality Engineer or QA Specialist in complex technical projects.
* Experience working with UK public-sector clients, ideally within transport or infrastructure environments.
* Quality management certifications (e.g. IRCA Internal Auditor ISO 9001, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer).
* Service Management knowledge (ITIL Foundation or equivalent).
* Strong knowledge of international and UK quality management standards.
* Proven experience leading or coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
