Job Description
The main focus of this role is to develop and progress the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a pivotal role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the effective implementation of the reform.
You will:
1. Coordinate and collate input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
2. Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
3. Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, ensuring it meets business needs.
4. Contribute technical insight/feedback into Defra Policy discussions to embed regulatory requirements into the Waste Tracking Service.
5. Engage with devolved nations concerning Waste Tracking Service requirements.
In addition, you will:
1. Provide leadership on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and links to waste tracking.
2. Support wider regulatory reform related to the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
3. Contribute to the wider Hazardous Waste team, supporting broader team objectives.

The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead the management of hazardous waste, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management.
