Urban Mobility Planner (Senior Engineer / Senior Transport Planner)

Reporting to: Mobility Discipline Lead and Head of Urban Design
About the Role
Our Urban Design Group is an interdisciplinary team working across scales — from strategic regional studies to masterplanning and regeneration. We believe design excellence comes from collaboration across planning, landscape, spatial design and related disciplines. As we expand our masterplanning capability, we are seeking an Urban Mobility Planner to strengthen our transport and mobility expertise. You will act as an in‑house consultant, supporting the design of efficient, people‑focused and sustainable urban environments. The role combines technical transport planning with clear graphical and written communication.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide transport input into masterplans and design proposals (road alignment, drop‑offs, parking layouts, slopes and related infrastructure)
* Undertake transport data analysis and forecasting to inform projects
* Prepare Transport Assessments, transport strategies and impact studies
* Research transport policies and strategies in project locations globally
* Produce clear, high‑quality reports, drawings and presentations
* Use modelling tools to simulate transport scenarios and advise on solutions
* Contribute to the wider work of the Urban Design Group and support EDI principles across projects
Essential Skills and Experience
* Experience in a transport consultancy or engineering environment
* Proficiency in AutoCAD
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
* Proactive, organised and able to build strong working relationships
* Legal right to work in the country of employment
Background in at least one of the following -
* Road and active travel scheme design
* Development planning (Transport Assessments, Access Statements)
* Strategic transport planning or behaviour change
* Experience in transport modelling (e.g. Arcady, Picady, Vissim, Visum)
* Degree in Engineering
* Detailed design experience
* Knowledge of ITE trip generation and planning standards (UK or international)
* Adobe InDesign or Illustrator skills
* Creative, solution‑oriented approach
