 
        Site Safety & Health Specialist – HV Substation Project (Midlands, IP23 8DX) Location: Midlands-based (Yaxley area) Rate: £400.00 per day Contract Type: Full-time, site-based, contract Duration: 6-month contract, with strong potential for extension Hours: Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week Start Date: ASAP IR35 Status: Outside IR35 MRR Infrastructure is supporting a leading global engineering consultancy in the delivery of a major substation project in the Midlands. Known for its work on high-profile transmission and distribution schemes across the UK, the business is committed to delivering safe, high-quality infrastructure in complex and heavily regulated environments. We are now recruiting a Site Safety & Health Specialist to join the site delivery team, providing key health and safety leadership, support and oversight. This role involves developing and implementing site-specific SHE procedures and ensuring full compliance with CDM regulations, statutory requirements and internal standards. You will work closely with the project and site management teams to embed a culture of safe working. Responsibilities will include conducting site audits and inspections, reviewing RAMS and Safe Systems of Work, managing and reporting on SHE KPIs, supporting accident and incident investigations, and helping ensure actions from audits are followed through to completion. You will also be responsible for delivering toolbox talks, site inductions, safety briefings and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The ability to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, local authorities and enforcement bodies is essential. Previous experience on substation sites, or in a live substation environment, would be highly advantageous, as would the ability to deputise for the Environmental Advisor when required. This is a hands-on role that will suit someone who leads by example, communicates clearly, and can balance proactive leadership with technical rigour. Essential Requirements: * Strong background in health and safety within heavy construction or infrastructure projects * Experience working on live substation or new-build substation environments * In-depth knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK SHE legislation * Proven experience producing RAMS, audits, investigations and safety briefings * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels * Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement * Competent IT skills and familiarity with SHE management systems * Valid UK driving licence Desirable: * NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent H&S qualification * Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IOSH) * Experience with National Grid T&D sites or frameworks * Familiarity with environmental management and temporary works processes * Substation access and safety training (e.g. BESC, NSI) This contract is initially for six months, with the likelihood of extension. It is site-based in the Yaxley area (IP23), and candidates must be able to manage their own travel and accommodation
