The role of Senior Specialist Pharmacist – Medicines Safety is essential in supporting the Medicines Safety agenda, and to join our Medicines Safety Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital(GOSH).
In line with the World Health Organisation strategic framework "medication without harm", we are looking for a Pharmacist to provide expert pharmaceutical advice, to support and continue to develop the high quality medicines safety standards at GOSH. You will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary Medicines Safety Committee contributing to the safe, rational, cost effective use of medicines across the Trust. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about paediatric medicines safety and reducing risk, as well as contributing to improving the patient/carer experience.
You must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Experience of undertaking and leading on medicines safety initiatives, providing services to a paediatric clinical specialty and multi-disciplinary working is essential.
Main duties of the job
To co-ordinate and manage the pharmaceutical response to National Patient Safety Alerts relating to medicines.
To co-ordinate the Trust Medicines Safety Committee and the Pharmacy Risk Action Group
To lead Pharmacy Directorate activities supporting safe medication practice within the Trust.
Provide professional leadership with respect to medication safety in accordance with local priorities and objectives s
To work with medical, nursing and risk management colleagues to develop and implement systems to support safe medication practice across the Trust.
To represent GOSH at national and regional medicines safety meetings
To organise, co-ordinate and lead medicines safety/patient safety events across the Trust, for example medicines safety month
To undertake incident report investigations, root cause analysis (RCA) and serious incident (SI) reviews related to pharmacy.
To undertake and support mock Care Quality Commission (CQC) reviews(both in-house and regionally) and medicines safety related audits such as medicines storage
