Overview
8a Psychologist/Psychological Therapist/Psychotherapist - Trauma – 0.8 wte, part-time, secondary care for adults with moderate-severe mood, anxiety and personality disorders. Based in Croydon (Jeanette Wallace House).
The post holder will be an experienced clinician for service users with PTSD and complex PTSD, offering trauma-focused CBT (may additionally be experienced in EMDR), and with significant experience using CBT for adults with moderate to severe mood and anxiety disorders. The role includes supervision and line management of junior psychologists/trainees, and providing consultation and link-working with colleagues within a multi-modality therapy team.
Responsibilities
* Provide highly specialist psychological interventions to adults in secondary care with moderate to severe mood, anxiety and personality disorders, focusing on PTSD and complex PTSD, including specialist assessment, treatment planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
* Contribute to creating a psychologically safe environment to enable staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish.
* Provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate, functioning as a specialist in PTSD and complex PTSD.
* Promote service evaluation, audit and research.
* Work as an autonomous professional within professional guidelines and service policies, interpreting policies within defined parameters.
* Agree outcomes with clinical/professional leads and determine how they are best achieved.
* Provide staff support within the area (e.g., Critical Incident Staff Support and Reflect-Support-Resolve) and participate, as appropriate, in staff support work.
About the Team & Location
The successful applicant will work alongside Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and psychotherapists in a well-established multi-modality team. There are line management and supervisory responsibilities, as well as link-working with CMHTs to provide consultation and teaching. The team is based in central Croydon (Jeanette Wallace House) with face-to-face sessions at this base and other Croydon sites. Wednesdays are an essential team day.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Registered with HCPC/APC/BPC/UKCP/BACP/BABCP
* Significant core/further training in CBT and tf-CBT
* Training course in supervision
Desirable
* Training in EMDR parts I, II and III
* Training in NET
* Accredited as a CBT practitioner with BABCP
Experience
* Adult secondary care experience with mood, anxiety and personality disorders with CBT
* Adult secondary care experience of tf-CBT for PTSD or cPTSD
* Supervision of psychologists or trainees
Desirable Experience
* Experience of treating PTSD with EMDR
* Experience of post-qualification service level audit
* Experience of working with refugees and asylum seekers
Skills & Abilities
* Administration of psychometric and neuropsychological tests
* Ability and experience of working in an MDT

Employer: South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. Location: Croydon, CR0 1FE. Band 8a. Salary: £61,631 to £68,623 per annum pro rata inclusive of HCAS. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part-time.
