Make a Real Impact! Do you have expert knowledge of pensions regulations, practices, and procedures, especially in relation to Local Authority pension schemes? If so, this is your chance to take on a pivotal role that truly makes a difference.
We are looking for a Pensions Consultant to join our HR Policy and Pensions Team to help shape the future of our pension policies. This is a new opportunity to influence policy, guide decision making, and ensure best practice across multiple schemes which have thousands of scheme members across WSCC and schools.
The Opportunity
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week. Part time hours will also be considered.
Location: County Hall, Chichester + Hybrid working (flexible options available)
Interview Date: Tuesday 16 December 2025

You will have oversight of the schemes and, using your expertise will manage, maintain and develop pension policy and discretions, and will be responsible for ensuring questions, problems and pension decisions are made or resolved compliantly. Using your technical knowledge, you will also advise those who manage our pension schemes to ensure any solutions they propose are appropriate, fulfil WSCC’s responsibilities and are aligned with best practice.

What are we looking for?
* You will have a sound understanding and detailed knowledge of pension schemes and regulatory matters and of the operation of pension schemes within Local Government.
* You will have experience in developing pension related employment policy and be able to consider complex pension matters including undertaking research and review of policy and guidance, regulations, and case law, and present possible solutions.
* You must be able to constructively challenge existing practices to facilitate continuous improvement in practice and compliance with regulatory requirements.
* You must be able to establish, develop, and maintain good working relationships and be able to work collaboratively with HR&OD colleagues and stakeholders to resolve problems.
