Our mission is to empower the people we support to live fulfilling lives, and we know that starts with taking care of our own team.

We're now looking to strengthen our payroll function with the appointment of a
Payroll Manager

About The Role
As Payroll Manager, you'll be the go-to expert for all payroll-related matters, ensuring our colleagues are paid accurately and on time across 23 payrolls with varying pay dates. You'll lead a team of three and work closely with stakeholders across Finance, People & Culture, and IT to maintain a robust, compliant, and forward-thinking payroll function.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team.
* Oversee the full payroll cycle including starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
* Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and statutory payments.
* Manage year-end processes including P60s, P11Ds, and PSA submissions.
* Collaborate with Finance to analyse payroll costs and reconcile control accounts.
* Maintain and enhance payroll controls and systems.
* Identify legislative risks and support mitigation strategies.
* Ensure accurate and timely data flows between departments.

What We're Looking For

* CIPP qualified (preferred) or qualified by experience.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a complex, multi-site payroll environment.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
* Proven experience managing payroll systems and teams.
* Deep understanding of payroll principles (tax, NIC, pensions).
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
* Strong knowledge of UK payroll, pensions, and HMRC legislation.

What's in It for You?

* Life Assurance
* Private Medical Insurance
* Leadership development programmes
* Access to professional qualifications
* Wellbeing support via our health and wellbeing platform
* Staff reward schemes including Outstanding Achievement and Annual Awards
* Access to discount platforms and money-saving schemes
* Trained mental health first aiders
* And most importantly, the opportunity to make a real impact in a values-led organisation

Ready to Make a Difference?
If you're passionate about payroll and want to be part of a growing organisation that values its people, we'd love to hear from you.
