Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Consultant with deep expertise in cement manufacturing to support our project-based initiatives. This role involves preparing high-quality technical documentation to support UK funding applications, industrial innovation grants, and regulatory reporting related to sustainable cement production, process optimization, and environmental compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cement manufacturing processes (including clinker production, kiln optimization, and alternative fuels), emissions control, and low-carbon technologies. The role requires the ability to translate complex engineering and regulatory data into clear, compelling documentation aligned with industrial decarbonization goals and public funding frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct technical research and prepare documentation on the operational, environmental, and economic impact of cement manufacturing technologies, including alternative fuels, low-clinker cement, and carbon capture initiatives.
* Translate complex process and environmental data into clear, structured content for use in grant applications, ESG reports, and stakeholder presentations.
* Collaborate with plant engineers and external consultants to ensure technical accuracy and strategic alignment.
* Stay current on trends in sustainable construction materials, decarbonization strategies, and regulatory developments affecting the cement and building materials sector.
* Support the development of HMRC-compliant R&D claims and innovation reporting for public or private sector funding.

Required Skills & Experience:

·Demonstrated expertise in calcined clay cement, including involvement in commissioning new cement plants, cement manufacturing, process engineering, and industrial decarbonisation projects.

·Familiarity with, or hands-on experience in, Lepol grate kiln technology used in cement production.

* Deep understanding of kiln operations, raw material handling, emissions control systems, and cement process optimization.
* Strong technical writing skills with a track record of producing documentation for funding applications, regulatory submissions, or industry stakeholders.
* Familiarity with UK/EU environmental regulations, emissions trading schemes (ETS), and circular economy principles in the construction materials sector.
* Experience working with plant operators, sustainability teams, or R&D departments within cement, construction, or heavy industry.
* Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing complex project applications with tight timelines and multiple stakeholders.

Contract Type:

·Remote work with flexible hours

·Competitive compensation based on project scope

If you have the expertise to craft high-quality technical documentation in this sector, we’d love to hear from you!
