Role: Surgery Associate (Healthcare Assistant) based in Optical Express London clinics. Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen to join Optical Express.
Location: London
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £27,000 per annum
Travel: The role requires travel to other Optical Express clinics across the UK; travel costs will be covered by Optical Express.

Due to continued growth, a fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Optical Express as a Surgery Associate (Healthcare Assistant) based in our London Clinics.
The role involves travelling to cover other Optical Express surgery clinics (travel costs will be covered by Company).
Note: Please ensure you can travel to other clinics as part of the role.
Responsibilities
* Pre-operative testing; conducting tests prior to examination and treatment and assisting during the consent appointment process, including providing information to patients prior to their IOL or LVC procedure.
* Patient discharge; instructing patients pre- and post-procedure on eye care, updating medical records and making follow-up appointments.
* Laser technician; preparation and calibration of lasers, understanding data, loading and transferring data, and safe operation of lasers.
* Co-ordinating; controlling patient flow on the day of consent appointments and surgery to minimise waiting times and address queries.
* Assisting the surgeon during consent appointments and treatments (LVC only) as scrub assistant; taking notes for the surgeon and instilling eye drops.
* Supporting the surgical team as Healthcare Assistant (HCA) in IOL theatre, including decontamination of instruments.
* End-of-day activities; updating patient files, filing, and preparing end-of-day reports for head office; cleaning the department, stocking and lens ordering.
* Reporting untoward incidents and contributing to patient safety, quality and risk management.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to absorb and convey highly technical information.
* Adaptable with a flexible approach to work; excellent time management and prioritisation.
* A confident and professional individual with strong organisational skills; excellent telephone manner; confidentiality, integrity and discretion.
* Willingness to travel to other clinics on a regular basis (travel costs covered by Optical Express).
