The Legal team provides legal and regulatory advice to ensure that all CDC products and services are compliant per local regulations while also meeting the needs of CDC customers. The team interfaces externally with regulators and service providers to safeguard CDC from legal liabilities. Focus areas include Commercial and Regulatory/ Product. Commercial team focuses on dealing with complex and general external commercial matters, facilitating deals, negotiation and commercial transactions; handling dispute matters with customers and other external parties; and privacy matters, including Legal Enforcement Requests and general requests for information from external parties; the role will also be dealing with other day-to-day corporate matters, including NDA Agreements, SaaS Agreements, Licensing Agreements, Service Agreements. Regulatory/Product team provides proactive and solution-oriented legal and regulatory advice and guidance to multiple stakeholders to enable the development and launch of Crypto products and services in a way that meets our obligations as well as the needs of our customers. Work cross-functionally to identify, analyze, and mitigate legal and regulatory risks (while maximizing commercial opportunities) related to the introduction of new products and services. Also represents on a variety of topics before federal and state regulators, financial partners, and other external audiences
Job Responsibilities
1. Legal Knowledge and Support - You proactively support attorneys and other departments on legal matters; you draft, process, and/or review legal and other documents and maintain your legal framework knowledge.
2. Operational Excellence - You ensure compliance by reviewing and contributing to business materials; you demonstrate accountability for achieving project goals, and support attorneys in developing solutions that enable clients to achieve business objectives.
3. Business Counseling - You build a knowledge of businesses, make recommendations and provide support to the various lines of business; you act as the primary legal contact certain business teams and participate in meetings with attorneys, business leaders, and outside counsel; you prepare presentations; and you communicate, counsel, and provide status updates to clients on issues under the direction of an attorney.
4. Improvement - You self-manage and prioritize your work tasks and projects and maintain company tools, resources, databases, and processes in order to improve efficiency.
5. Interest in cryptocurrencies and fintech generally; prior working experience with crypto companies is a plus.
6. General corporate management and working knowledge of the legal system.
7. Payments industry expertise and experience in consumer-facing industry are pluses.
8. Financial services regulations and licensing processes a plus.
