We’re looking for an inspiring and strategic leader to take on the role of Head of Bakery Operations —a pivotal position leading a team of 150 people and helping to shape the future of our operations in line with our long-term ambitions. About the Role You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end operational leadership of Bettys Craft Bakery, ensuring delivery of excellent product quality, efficient processes, and a positive, thriving team culture. Through visible, servant leadership, you’ll coach and support your direct reports (six senior managers), empower others, and drive change through collaboration, continuous improvement, and cross-functional teamwork. This is a unique opportunity to lead one of Yorkshire’s most iconic food brands through the next chapter of its operational evolution. Key Responsibilities Translate strategic direction into clear plans, budgets, targets, and tangible actions. Inspire and lead the bakery teams to achieve excellence in operations, quality, people development, and culture. Streamline operations and reduce complexity, cost, and waste—while protecting the craft and quality of our products. Champion and embed the Bakery Operating Model and a continuous improvement mindset across all areas. Build strong, trusting relationships with peers, teams, and stakeholders across the business. Ensure operational compliance with all food safety and health & safety legislation. Lead bakery operations in delivering commercial outputs and change initiatives. Sponsor or participate in business-critical projects, providing a strong bakery perspective. Monitor and report on performance against KPIs while building capability and succession within the team. Role model Bettys & Taylors values and act as a visible ambassador of the brand. What We’re Looking For Proven senior leadership experience in food manufacturing or a similar FMCG environment. Experience leading and motivating large, diverse operational teams across multiple shifts. Strong strategic mindset, with the ability to convert vision into action and outcomes. Deep understanding of continuous improvement and operational excellence principles. Commercial acumen, including the ability to interpret P&Ls and optimise cost-efficiency. High levels of accountability and a collaborative, coaching leadership style. A clear, logical thinker and confident decision-maker who can influence at all levels. Excellent communication skills and a passion for building high-trust relationships. IT literate with strong numeracy and project management capability. Why Join Bettys?
