* Salary sacrifice pension scheme
* 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
* Ongoing training & professional development
* Opportunity to work on innovative, low-carbon energy projects
* Strong long-term career progression within a growing business

An ambitious and fast-growing energy solutions business is looking to appoint a Lead EC&I Engineer to support the delivery of complex industrial energy projects across the UK.

The organisation works with energy-intensive industrial clients to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions through the design, build, and operation of on-site energy systems. Projects typically integrate technologies such as CHP, heat recovery, heat pumps, and solar PV within live manufacturing environments.

This is a hands-on, technically varied role offering involvement across the full project lifecycle—from early-stage design through to commissioning and operational optimisation.

As Lead EC&I Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring control systems and instrumentation are designed, implemented, and commissioned to the highest standards.

You’ll work closely with internal teams and external engineering partners, reviewing designs, shaping control philosophies, and supporting on-site delivery to ensure systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

This role suits a practical, solutions-focused engineer who enjoys both technical design and site-based problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

* Contribute to EC&I specifications, control philosophies, and Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
* Review third-party electrical, control, and instrumentation designs, providing technical challenge where needed
* Support development of technical scopes and tender documentation
* Advise on instrumentation, control strategies, and data capture requirements
* Translate operational needs into clear and effective control strategies
* Help standardise EC&I approaches across projects
* Provide technical input during commissioning and early operation phases
* Support system testing, troubleshooting, and validation of control logic
* Attend site during installation and commissioning to ensure correct implementation

What We’re Looking For Essential:

* Background in Electrical, Control Systems, or Instrumentation Engineering
* Experience with industrial control systems, automation, or instrumentation
* Experience reviewing or assessing third-party engineering designs
* Strong understanding of control philosophies and Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
* Commissioning, troubleshooting, or system validation experience
* Comfortable working across both office and site environments
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

This is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation at the forefront of industrial decarbonisation. You’ll work on technically challenging, meaningful projects that deliver real-world impact, while developing your expertise across a broad range of energy technologies.
