Business Unit Manager (Calibration Services)

We are working with a leading provider in the testing, inspection, certification, and compliance (TICC) sector, part of a fast-growing international group, to appoint a Business Unit Manager for their Calibration Services division.
This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for operational performance, commercial growth, and regulatory compliance at a UKAS-accredited laboratory. The division has a turnover of around £1m and is central to the wider group’s technical services offering.
The Role
As Business Unit Manager, you will:
* Hold full P&L responsibility for the calibration business unit
* Lead day-to-day operations at the Chesterfield site
* Oversee health & safety compliance for staff and contractors
* Ensure continued UKAS accreditation and adherence to ISO/IEC 17025 standards
* Build, manage, and develop a high-performing technical team
* Drive business development and commercial growth alongside technical delivery
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
* Proven leadership experience within a UKAS-accredited calibration lab
* Strong technical knowledge across calibration parameters (e.g. pressure, torque, temperature, mass)
* Solid understanding of lab-based health & safety standards
* Excellent people leadership and communication skills
Desirable:
* Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, metrology, or a related discipline
* Experience in business development or client relationship management
* P&L and budget management background
