Overview
To support the delivery of the safety and assurance activities to support the successful implementation of changes into service. Demonstrate compliance with the NATS Safety Policy such that the accountable roles have the required confidence that the change can be implemented and operated safely.
Responsibilities
* Prepare Safety & Assurance plans, arguments and collate evidence for Change Assurance documentation covering Safety Management and Business Continuity / Service Resilience assurance and risks.
* Collaborate with Systems / Software Assurance, Human Factors and Cyber Security to ensure changes are implemented with the required safety assurance.
* Facilitate workshops to identify safety hazards and elicit mitigating, functional and non-functional requirements that form the safety & assurance requirements for a project change. Ensure all standards of work conform to best practice and are proportionate to risk.
* Adopt a proactive approach to identify and resolve issues affecting safety, business continuity, human performance and cyber security of NATS services or their interfaces.
* Work independently to deliver assurance evidence as directed by the Safety & Assurance Manager. Refer to the line manager for guidance on high-risk assurance issues and large resource/time commitments.
* Prepare Assurance documentation for both existing Operations and new Project Change assurance, enabling NATS and Regulatory acceptance and approvals. Deliver the assurance documents required to achieve these goals; the scope includes:
* Apply the relevant Safety Management Procedures (SP400, SP401, SP403, SP406, SP409).
* Ensure compliance with the appropriate NMS/BMS processes.
* Define Assurance Requirements with stakeholders, resulting in requirements for Safety, Integrity, Software Assurance, Human Factors, Training, Business Continuity / Resilience and Security.
* Support development of assurance arguments that are reasonable, proportionate, well-constructed and provide the required level of confidence for the Programme and Project changes.
* Create the assurance documentation, supported by evidence, to address the derived requirements.
* Support continuous improvement of safety and assurance processes by providing suggestions to the appropriate BPE/BPO.
* Hold a minimum degree in a STEM or assurance-related discipline, or an equivalent structured engineering or technology training with extensive relevant experience.
* Desirable understanding of NATS ATC/Engineering Operational Services and Procedures to understand the scope and potential safety impacts of project changes.
* Working knowledge of principles and practices for providing assurance (safety, security, business continuity, human factors, software development) as applied to design and development of systems and services to support NATS operations.
* Working knowledge of the NATS Business and Safety Management Systems.
* Knowledge or experience with principal tools, techniques and methods for assuring changes to NATS Operational Services (e.g., Goal Structuring Notation, Hazard Analysis, Failure Analysis).
* Ability to communicate difficult technical/operational concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
* Highly motivated with a commitment to personal and professional development.
* Work package management knowledge, including Earned Value Management mechanisms and application.
* A passion for Safety or Air Traffic Management with a willingness to learn, develop and take on different tasks under guidance.
