Project Engineer (Automation) - L/Derry - Permanent role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Project Engineer (Automation) to join a leading advanced manufacturing organisation. In this role, you will support the design, development and optimisation of automated systems, contributing to the delivery of innovative solutions across a range of industrial applications.
Working as part of an established engineering team, you will assist in projects from concept through to commissioning, supporting the development of control systems, PLC and robotic solutions while ensuring high standards of quality and performance About this role:

What you'll be doing in this role:
6. Deliver automation projects from concept to final handover.
7. Design control philosophies, PLC programs, and communication architectures.
8. Develop modular code using platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal.
9. Oversee electrical schematics, P&IDs, and compliance with industry standards.
10. Integrate robotics, servo systems, and data‑driven solutions for OEE and predictive maintenance.
11. Support testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
12. Mentor junior engineers and maintain strong communication with clients.
13. Prepare documentation, bills of materials, and ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
What you'll need for this role:
14. Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
15. 5+ years’ experience in automation engineering.
16. Strong PLC, control systems, and industrial automation knowledge.
17. Understanding of CE, ISO machinery directives, PL/SIL safety standards.
18. Strong analytical and communication skills.
19. Proficiency in standard software tools.
20. Willingness to travel for commissioning and SAT activities.
