Technical Services Manager (MEP)

Are you a technical expert with a knack for bridging the gap between design and delivery? My client are looking for a Technical Services Manager to lead the coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) services across a diverse portfolio of commercial, education, and care home projects.
In this role, you’ll be the linchpin of their project teams, ensuring that building services are seamlessly integrated, whether in high-stakes new builds or complex live environments.
The Role
As the Technical Services Manager, you will manage MEP services through every stage of the project lifecycle—from initial tender to final handover. You will report to the Senior Design Manager or Operations Manager and work across both regional sites and our head office.
Key Responsibilities
* Pre-Construction & Design: Review tender documents for compliance and cost-effectiveness, appraise subcontractor bids, and lead MEP coordination workshops with consultants and clients.
* Construction Oversight: Monitor MEP subcontractors to ensure quality and adherence to the construction programme. You will coordinate installations with architectural and structural works to proactively avoid clashes.
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to health and safety, particularly in sensitive live environments like schools and care facilities. You will also ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act and assist in achieving BREEAM and Building Regulation sign-offs.
* Commissioning & Handover: Manage commissioning programmes to ensure all services are validated to client expectations. You will oversee the preparation of O&M manuals and coordinate training for facilities managers and end users.
* Post-Completion: Support the aftercare team in resolving technical defects and assist with end-of-defects period inspections.
What We’re Looking For
* Have experience working for an MEP Consultancy
* Expertise in managing MEP services within the commercial, education, and care home sectors.
* Proven ability to review and contribute to tender bids, contractor proposals, and value engineering.
* Strong communication skills to chair progress meetings and act as a key link between subcontractors and project teams.
* Knowledge of statutory regulations, including Building Safety Act compliance and BREEAM standards.
* Experience in logistics planning for live operational environments.
