Rate of Pay: £13.26- £17.15 per hour
Summary:
The Grounds Operative will support the delivery of high-quality grounds maintenance and environmental services across public spaces, schools, contracted sites, and commercial client locations throughout the county. Working within the Commercial & Operations team, the post holder will contribute to maintaining safe, clean, sustainable, and visually appealing environments for residents, visitors, and external partners. The role involves carrying out a wide range of grounds maintenance duties including grass cutting, hedge trimming, planting, landscaping, litter clearance, and general environmental maintenance. The post holder will work closely with supervisors, colleagues, and external clients to ensure services are delivered efficiently, professionally, and in accordance with health and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
* Undertake grass cutting, strimming, hedge trimming, pruning, planting, weed control, leaf clearance, and general horticultural maintenance.
* Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety legislation, safe working practices, and council procedures.
* Carry out daily vehicle and equipment checks and report defects, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly.
* Support sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives across council-managed and contracted locations.
Essentials:
* Good standard of general education including literacy and numeracy skills.
* Experience carrying out grounds maintenance, landscaping, environmental services, or outdoor operational work.
* Experience using grounds maintenance machinery and equipment such as mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, and hand tools.
* Understanding of safe working practices and health and safety requirements in operational environments.
