Why you’ll care

* You’ll walk into real ownership: stabilise a high-usage product, lead engineering decisions, and shape a rebuild that’s already in motion.
* You get autonomy without politics: leadership defers to experts, moves fast, and backs good decisions. The roadmap has teeth: make it stable, then ship one disruptive product by March.
* You won’t be stuck in meetings. You’ll code, review, mentor, and choose the tools/patterns that make the platform reliable and scalable as hundreds of clients come online through acquisitions.

You’ll like this if…

* You’ve always been more than “just a developer.”
* You care about why something’s being built as much as how. You like clean architecture, smart tooling, and fast iteration. You’d rather ship meaningful code than over-engineer a perfect system no one uses.

Here, you’ll guide a small team building a SaaS platform used by financial and fintech firms to manage regulatory complexity. It’s a space full of nuance, and you’ll help make it simple turning legislation into usable, elegant software.

You’ll set the technical direction, decide how things are built, and mentor others while staying hands-on in the stack. Expect a mix of architecture, code, and collaboration all with enough freedom to make your mark.

This isn’t a “corporate tech lead” job where you spend your days in Jira tickets and meetings. It’s a place where smart, curious engineers can build with purpose.

You’ll be doing things like…

* Set the technical direction: architecture, reliability, performance, security.
* Lead through code: build/refactor in TypeScript/React; review PRs; raise standards.
* Line-lead the engineering team (London + Near-Shore) day-to-day.
* Partner with product/UX to turn messy regulatory workflows into simple software.
* Guide cloud choices (AWS serverless today; microservices/K8s/AI later) and keep costs sane.
* Keep delivery cadence strong (Jira, CI/CD, two-week sprints).

You’ll fit well if you…

* Are a front-end-biased full-stack engineer (React + TypeScript/Node) who can lead.
* Know AWS well enough to prioritise uptime, performance, and cost.
* Mentor well, explain trade-offs simply, and enjoy turning chaos into clarity.
* Have seen both startup scrappiness and scaled quality.
* RegTech/fintech is a plus, not a must — curiosity wins.

Why you’ll enjoy it

You’ll work in a small, close-knit team that actually collaborates - no egos, no politics, no layers of approval. The pace is fast, the problems are interesting, and your ideas matter.

Process

30-min intro → take-home (small, pragmatic) → 45-min code review → 60-min final (HM + director).

Fast sequencing: code review and final often scheduled same day.
