An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and committed Teacher of Computer Science to join a highly regarded independent school in York. This is an excellent role for a Computing specialist who enjoys academic rigour and wants to work with motivated pupils in a calm, purposeful environment where high standards, strong outcomes and wider opportunity are central to school life.

About the Role

As Teacher of Computer Science, you will teach across KS3–KS5 (depending on experience and timetable), delivering ambitious lessons that develop strong computational thinking, secure programming skills and confident exam technique. You will support pupils to:

* Build strong computational thinking and structured problem-solving

* Develop secure programming and algorithmic reasoning

* Understand key computer systems, networks and data representation

* Develop awareness of cybersecurity and responsible digital practice

* Build exam confidence through modelling, deliberate practice and feedback

The Department

Computer Science sits within a strong STEM culture, with pupils supported to develop both practical and theoretical understanding. The department is collaborative and well resourced, with shared planning and enrichment opportunities such as coding clubs, competitions or STEM projects where available.

* Location: York

* Start Date: ASAP / next term (or by agreement)

* Contract: Full-time, permanent (or as agreed)

* Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

What the School is Looking For

* QTS (or equivalent recognised teaching qualification)

* Strong subject knowledge in Computer Science / Computing

* Ability to teach confidently across KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable)

* High expectations and strong classroom practice

* Willingness to contribute to wider school life and enrichment
