Windows Vulnerability Management Engineer – Remote
Our client, a leading organisation in the global insurance space has an exciting opportunity to join their team on a permanent basis, working closely alongside fellow engineers in the UK and overseas. The Windows Vulnerability Management Engineer will be responsible for remediation and support of distributed computing systems with reference to vulnerabilities and patching. You will work closely with application management, application development, and other IT teams to support vulnerability reduction of Windows Server infrastructure (both physical and virtual).
Role responsibilities:
1. Primary role is to ensure the global stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the systems and infrastructure that support core organizational functions, as well as to conduct research on new and emerging technologies for practical application to business problems and strategic initiatives.
2. Experienced knowledge of job role demonstrating advanced application of technical skills and interpersonal competencies
3. Provides direct global technical support for all requirements in developing strategy, planning, coordination, scripting, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to our distributed computing environment. This includes participating in several small to medium-scale projects and/or tasks of various complexities across the enterprise.
Skills required:
4. Installing and supporting Windows Servers. Other flavors are desired: 2016, 2019, Clustering, 2022, Virtual and Physical
5. Working with and troubleshooting Windows
6. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
7. Experience with BigFix for Apache
8. Experience with Nutanix HCI
9. Experience using ServiceNow ITIL managed processes
10. Strong experience with PowerShell Scripting
11. Some exposure to Python and Ansible
12. Installing and supporting VMware
13. Managing IaaS and PaaS in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS
14. In-depth knowledge of server technologies employed, hardware, O/S, and related tools and applications
15. Expert technical diagnostic and research skills of servers, expert troubleshooting
16. In-depth knowledge of networking components and services such as TCP/IP protocols, DHCP and DNS technologies, and LAN/WAN topologies and transports
17. Ability to correctly assess risks of various alternatives and take appropriate actions to restore services in the event of system outages
18. Ability to explain the technical implications of various alternative solutions to management
