Are you passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and reach their full potential? We are seeking an enthusiastic and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a thriving secondary school in Stevenage, supporting students with a range of additional needs across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
This SEN Teaching Assistant position offers the opportunity to work closely with students who may have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, learning difficulties, or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students access learning and thrive within a supportive and inclusive environment. Working alongside teachers and specialist staff, you will provide both classroom-based support and targeted interventions tailored to individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Support students with SEND across a variety of curriculum subjects.
• Deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions.
• Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence.
• Assist in implementing EHCP targets and personalised support strategies.
• Support students with emotional regulation and social development.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND specialists and pastoral teams.
• Foster an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach, particularly when supporting challenging behaviours.

This SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity is ideal for experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, Behaviour Mentors, Youth Workers, Care Workers, Support Workers or graduates considering careers in education, psychology, social work or mental health support.
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
