Project Engineer (Mechanical)
* Job Type: Permanent
* Salary: £45,000-£46,000
* Location: Northumberland
* Working Hours: 35.5 hours per week, early finish Fridays
Day-to-day of the role:
* Manage assigned projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery against agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
* Prepare and present proposals for projects, including cost justifications and progress updates.
* Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications to ensure compliance and accuracy.
* Provide mechanical engineering expertise across design, development, installation, and commissioning phases.
* Produce and interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings using design software such as Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
* Identify and drive process improvements related to quality, machine efficiency, and safety performance.
* Advise on spare parts requirements for new equipment, including recommended minimum stock levels.
* Evaluate potential subcontractors based on cost, delivery performance, and quality metrics.
* Appoint and manage subcontractors, ensuring work complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
* Maintain oversight of activities requiring compliance with relevant construction regulations (e.g., CDM where applicable).
* Ensure all project activities adhere to recognised safety, environmental, and operational standards.
* Liaise with external regulatory bodies and authorities when required.
* Identify technical or site-specific issues and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or HNC/HND with significant relevant experience.
* Minimum 3–5 years of experience within mechanical engineering, capital project management, or a similar environment.
* Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
* Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor).
