Location: Birmingham – Ladywood / Edgbaston Area Contract Type: Full-Time | Term-Time Only Start Date: Immediate or next academic term Salary: Competitive, depending on experience Empower Children to Succeed – SEN Teaching Assistant in Ladywood / Edgbaston Schools in Ladywood and Edgbaston, Birmingham are seeking compassionate, patient, and motivated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs) to support pupils with diverse learning, social, and emotional needs. SEN TAs are vital to helping children succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. You will provide 1:1 and small group support, assist teachers in adapting lessons, and encourage pupils to gain confidence, independence, and self-regulation skills. SEN provision is strong and supports pupils with: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN) Specific learning difficulties including dyslexia, dyspraxia, and numeracy challenges You may work in: Mainstream schools with SEN departments Resource bases within mainstream schools Specialist provisions for pupils with communication or learning difficulties SEN TAs are considered an essential part of the school team, helping pupils access lessons and achieve their full potential. Your Role as an SEN TA Key responsibilities include: Providing 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other learning difficulties Adapting teaching materials and resources to individual needs Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils self-regulate Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and communication development Observing, recording, and reporting progress to teachers and SENCOs Assisting pupils with transitions between activities or classrooms Supporting therapy or intervention sessions Helping pupils with personal care when needed You will be a consistent, calm, and encouraging presence, helping pupils navigate both academic and social challenges while fostering independence and confidence.
