About the Role
KPMG’s Energy and Natural Resources (“ENR”) tax practice covers Oil and Gas, Mining, Power and Utilities (including renewables), and Chemicals. As our clients face unprecedented change with the energy transition and fiscal uncertainty, our ENR tax and legal practice is growing.
Our clients include some of the largest global ENR companies, operating in the UK and internationally. Our work spans deal advisory support, international tax, and domestic tax advice. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work across these areas.
Our Deal Advisory Tax services include advising on transactions such as company/sell-side vendor assist, refinancing, due diligence, buy-side due diligence, and structuring. We aim to maximize value throughout the investment cycle, often involving advice across multiple countries and tax jurisdictions.
Our tax advisory work involves supporting clients with business and fiscal changes, including new jurisdiction entry, business reorganizations, refinancing, leasing, and understanding the impact of windfall taxes and global fiscal reforms like BEPS 2.0 Pillar 2.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with Partners and Directors on complex engagements.
* Support business development activities, including proposals and pitches.
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
* Serve as a main point of contact for clients and internal teams.
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
* Prepare and oversee detailed technical tax advice on UK and international issues.
* Analyze tax documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact.
* Collaborate with UK and overseas tax specialists, challenging their input when necessary.
* Stay up-to-date with UK and OECD tax developments.
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
* Contribute to thought leadership initiatives.
The Person
* Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent.
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions.
* Experience in the ENR sector is preferred but not essential; strong interest and willingness to learn are important.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
* Strong UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
* Good project management and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to coach colleagues and work effectively in teams.
* Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
