SEN Teaching Assistant – Key Stage 1 Location: Preston Pay: £103 - £110 per day Start Date: ASAP About the Role: We are looking for a compassionate and proactive Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support pupils in Key Stage 1 at a nurturing and inclusive primary school in Preston. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support for children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You’ll play a key role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop social and emotional skills in a safe and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs. Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies. Support children with their communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction. Assist the class teacher with planning and adapting lessons to meet diverse needs. Promote inclusion and positive learning experiences for all pupils. Liaise with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support. Requirements: Experience supporting children with SEN (ideally within KS1 or primary settings). A relevant qualification such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent. Understanding of Autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs and relevant support strategies. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
