This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are core components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Work with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required monitoring or surveillance programs.
* Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic exposures, including but not limited to:
o Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
o Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
o Asbestos Management and surveys, including risk assessments
o Noise and vibration management and assessments
o Radiation management and assessments
o Other hazards such as thermal, water quality, communicable diseases, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, and fatigue
• Recommend and design control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training, e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use and maintenance.
• Conduct assurance processes through inspections and audits across all operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, covering occupational health standards and food/welfare areas.
• Maintain calibration systems for hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
o Qualifying BOHS accredited degree, or
o Combination of BOHS W & P modules
1. At least 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, with knowledge of measurement techniques.
2. Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and health risks, influencing management and staff.
3. Excellent communication skills for presentations and various mediums.
4. Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
