Job Title: Home–School Liaison Officer
The Home–School Liaison Officer plays a key role in improving student attendance and addressing persistent non-attendance. By working closely with students, parents or guardians, staff, and external agencies, you will help raise attendance rates and contribute to students' overall well-being and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Inclusion Lead, Pupil Premium Lead, Heads of House, and Attendance Welfare Officer to support students and families facing barriers to education.
* Serve as a vital link between students, families, staff, and external service providers.
* Provide targeted assistance to vulnerable students—especially those with persistent absence—and advocate on their behalf.
* Identify and address barriers to attendance, offering solutions that encourage consistent school participation.
* Promote and champion attendance and well-being across the school community.
* Develop and deliver (or assist with) intervention programmes for individuals or groups to help students and families overcome attendance challenges.
* Liaise with external agencies to seek appropriate support and advice for students and families.
* Support students in overcoming obstacles to learning to maximise their educational opportunities.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic records of referrals and interactions with external services.
* Provide administrative support to assist with the effective delivery of student support services.
* Deliver targeted support, as directed by senior staff, to improve the progress and attainment of students whose education is affected by attendance issues.
