Job Title: Industrial Process Engineer
Location: Green Park, Reading
Role: Full Time
Hours: 4 day week Monday-Thursday / 37 hours per week
We're looking for an Industrial Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering function. You will be part of the wider Industry team that support the OME business.
The Industrial Process Engineer for the project will define the direction for the industrial orientation of new products, processes, standards or operational plans based upon the business strategy of Thales UK.
What this role has to offer you
1. A key representative for the Industrial function operating within Engineering team during the design, development, and industrialisation of the
product life cycle where you will gain a great overview of the entire business process.
2. You will be fundamental to developing the production strategy, the design of both product and production environment as well as estimating processes, identifying articulating and documenting Thales capabilities and requirements, then maintain and monitor to ensure engineering, production and delivery meet those agreements.
3. The experiences gained in this role could position you well to develop your career as a process expert, an industrialisation expert, Manufacturing Engineering manager or UK Industrial Architect.
4. Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Function to define the industrialisation and production strategy and agree financial commitments (estimates) to deliver the strategy.
5. Ensure reliability and competitiveness of the technological solutions so that the design can be economically produced following the principles of ‘Design for Manufacture’ and ‘Design to Cost’ within the constraints of the Industrial capabilities and wider supply chain.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
6. Defines and validates external supply chain capabilities including assistance with procurement in identifying suppliers with appropriate capability in support of off-shore scenarios
7. Contributes to technological choices in the Bid and design phase and ensures the efficient implementation of them in the production processes
8. Responsible for both industrial process and industrial test definition within a project
9. Ensuring that products meet customer requirements in terms of manufacturing costs(both recurring and non-recurring), quality and lead time
10. Validation of the MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) and proposes the related action plan to reach the targeted MRL
11. Plans the production preparation activity and develop processes
12. To influence / optimise the development for manufacturability within project constraints.
About you
13. Leadership and Communication Skills
14. Expert knowledge in Industry or configuration management
15. Wide Supply Chain capability knowledge
16. Knowledge of Lean principles including one piece flow, Ishikawa analysis etc
17. Problem solving skills including root cause analysis
18. Sufficient familiarity with recurring cost and non-recurring cost to perform both estimating and to challenge / optimise cost budgets.
19. To be competent to challenge costs
