Whitstable Medical Practice is seeking a non-list-bearing Salaried GP position focused on delivering same day andurgent clinical care within a primary care setting.

The postholder will assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute andepisodic healthcare needs, delivering high-quality general medical services andensuring safe, effective and timely care for all registered patients.

The role isdesigned to support responsive patient access and does not includeresponsibility for a personal patient list or routine continuity clinics.


Main duties of the job

To supportthe Partners in delivering a responsive same day care service and to manage avaried and clinically interesting acute workload within our GMS Practice.

The postholder will contribute to delivering safe, effective and patient-centred carewhile maintaining high clinical standards and supporting wider practiceobjectives.

Whitstable Medical Practice is a forward thinking singlepractice Primary Care Network (PCN) GP Practice based across 3 sites inWhitstable. There are 24 equity GP partners looking after over 45,000 patients. There are also 17 Allied Health Professionalsdirectly employed Clinical Pharmacy Team, Frailty Practitioners, SocialPrescribers, First Contact Physiotherapists and Mental HealthPractitioners.

We pride ourselves on our innovative approach to PrimaryCare. We are a training practice and runvarious in house contracts including Cataract surgery, Ultrasound, Dermatology,Physical Therapies and Audiology together with further community contracts, aDay Surgery Suite and an Urgent Treatment Centre with digital x-ray.


Job responsibilities

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The postholder will:

* Inaccordance with the practice timetable, undertake a variety of duties includingsurgery consultations, urgent appointments, telephone consultations, clinicalqueries, triage and clinical decision-making.
* Assess,diagnose and manage acute presentations and same day care requirements withinagreed clinical pathways.
* Authoriseand process repeat prescriptions and respond to associated prescriptionqueries.
* Completereferral letters (NHS and private)
* Makeprofessional and autonomous clinical decisions in relation to presentingproblems whether self-referred or referred by other healthcare professionals.
* Maintainaccurate, clear and contemporaneous computer-based consultation records in accordancewith agreed standards.
* Collect andcontribute clinical data for audit and quality improvement purposes.
* Prescribein accordance with local and national prescribing guidance.
* Participatein safeguarding processes and identify safeguarding concerns appropriately.
* Undertakeall duties expected of a GP working within primary care appropriate to therole.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN THE PRACTICE

The postholder will:

* Contributeto the teaching, support and development of doctors, nurses and wider clinicalteams where appropriate.
* Maintainawareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and proceduresincluding prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety, CQCstandards and Quality and Outcomes Framework requirements.
* Demonstratecommitment to lifelong learning, reflective practice and evidence-basedmedicine.
* Maintain aprofessional appraisal and development portfolio.
* Contributeto audit, evaluation and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
* Support thedevelopment and effective use of electronic patient records.
* Attendtraining, Practice meetings and events organised by the Practice or externalagencies as appropriate.
* Meet agreedtimescales and deadlines for audits and contractual returns to supportachievement of practice quality standards and contractual requirements.

CONFIDENTIALITY

In the courseof carrying out duties, the post holder may have access to confidentialinformation relating to patients, carers, practice staff and other healthcareprofessionals.

All suchinformation must be treated as strictly confidential and handled in accordancewith Practice policies, UK GDPR, Data Protection legislation and professionalobligations.

Patientsentrust the Practice with sensitive information and all staff are expected torespect patient confidentiality and maintain professional standards at alltimes.

The postholder will:

CONTRIBUTION TO SERVICE DEVELOPMENT

The postholder will:

* Work withPartners and the Management Team to achieve agreed standards, performancemeasures and objectives.
* Supportimplementation of new policies, procedures and service developments in linewith NHS England, the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and relevant legislation.

All staff andpost holders are expected to understand their safeguarding responsibilities,maintain appropriate training and act in accordance with local safeguardingprocedures and Practice policies.


Person Specification


Experience

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to work with limited supervision.
* Willingness to contribute to and participate in a peer support group.
* Good IT skills and familiarity with primary care clinical systems.
* Understanding of the pressures faced by GPs and healthcare teams.
* Ability to offer support within a clinical team and share learning points.


Qualifications

* Qualified GP
* Current GMC Registration
* Appropriate representation with a recognised Medical Defence Organisation.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£11,500 to £12,000 a sessiondepending on experience, per annum.
