Role Overview
We are looking for a Production Supervisor to take day-to-day control of the coating department, ensuring jobs are delivered on time, to the required quality standard, and in a controlled, well-managed environment.
This is a hands-on leadership role, not a coordination role. You will be expected to manage people, enforce standards, and take ownership of what leaves the department.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Production Control
* Plan and manage daily workload across the coating department
* Ensure jobs are progressing in line with agreed dispatch dates
* Identify risks early and take action to keep jobs on track
* Directly manage operators on shift
* Set clear expectations for output, quality, and behaviour
* Address performance issues promptly and consistently
Quality & Standards
* Take ownership of standards on the shop floor
* Challenge poor practices and stop issues before they leave the department
* Work closely with Quality to ensure requirements are understood and followed
Accountability & Escalation
* Escalate issues clearly and early where support is needed
* Ensure problems are not passed on or ignored
* Take responsibility for the performance of your area
Shop Floor Discipline & Environment
* Maintain a clean, organised, and controlled working environment
* Ensure end-of-day standards are met (cleaning, setup, housekeeping)
* Reinforce a structured way of working across the team
What Success Looks Like
* Jobs delivered on time with minimal disruption
* Reduction in avoidable quality issues
* Operators working to clear, consistent standards
* A well-controlled, organised production environment
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* Confident leading people on the shop floor
* Comfortable challenging poor performance or standards
* Structured and organised in how they work
* Proactive — identifies and deals with issues early
* Hands-on and visible within the team
Experience Required
* Previous experience in a production / manufacturing environment
* Experience supervising or leading a team
* Understanding of quality standards and production processes
