Learning Support Assistant – Secondary PRU (ADHD & SEMH)

A Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Croydon area is looking for a resilient, calm and committed Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong experience supporting students with ADHD, SEMH needs, and those who may display challenging behaviours.
🔎 About the Role:
You will be working with KS3–KS4 learners who require tailored support to engage positively in their education. The role involves both classroom-based assistance and focused 1:1 or small-group intervention, helping students regulate emotions, build confidence, and make progress both academically and socially.
💡 Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils with ADHD and SEMH needs in a PRU environment
Assist in managing behaviour and creating a calm, structured learning space
Deliver targeted support to help students access learning
Work closely with teachers, mentors, and behaviour support teams
Encourage positive choices, emotional regulation, and resilience
Contribute to personalised learning plans and restorative approaches✅ Requirements:
Previous experience in a Secondary PRU (essential)
Strong background working with students with ADHD and SEMH
Confident managing challenging behaviour in a supportive, non-confrontational way
Ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable young people
Team player with resilience, patience, and a positive mindset
