We currently have the following opportunity: Peripatetic Early Years Pupil Support Assistant - PKC12854 £16,416 - £17.300 (27.5 Hours per week, Term-time only) Based at Community Wing, Perth Grammar School As a Pupil Support Assistant [PSA], you will work as part of a team supporting children and young people who have additional support needs to access learning under the direction of other members of the team. This post is a a peripatetic role and you may not be based in one school but may be asked to travel to meet the needs of the children supported by the Early Years Inclusion Team. Children and Young People can have a range of needs that are short lived or more long term. These at different points in their education may require additional support. The PSA role is varied and may include supporting children and young people who present with needs which may include: • Social and Emotional • Learning • Communication • Physical • Personal Care. Some children may present with distressed and challenging behaviour as a result of these needs. As a PSA, you may have a role in supporting positive behaviour management programmes and individual support plans. You will be working in a variety of settings as some work may be nursery or school based whilst other supports may involve activities in the community e.g. horse riding or outdoor learning. As part of the nursery team you will support lunchtimes and playtimes. Perth & Kinross Council has introduced a Job Family Framework for all single status posts. Pupil Support Assistants are part of the Care and Learning Job Family and the role profile which is attached, details the typical behaviours, skills and experience required. Requirements We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate: • A genuine interest in the development of children and their wellbeing • Kindness, Empathy, patience and an ability to engage with children and young people. • Confidentiality in relation to children, young people and their families • Experience (paid/voluntary) of supporting children and young people with additional support needs. You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross. Please note, if candidates wish to work in a Early Learning and Childcare setting you will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
